Key Stage 1 Curriculum
Key Stage One – Children Aged 5-7 Years – for children in Year 1 (Owls) and Year 2 (Swallows)
When children leave Foundation Stage after their Reception class year, they enter Key Stage 1, which lasts for two years until the children are 7 years old. In the Summer term of Year 1 a Phonics Check is carried out and in their final year, the children are assessed by their teachers in English and Maths using National Tests. Throughout the key stage, children are made aware of the ‘next steps’ in their learning.
Children in Key Stage 1 study the National Curriculum as well as PSHCE and RE for which we follow the Surrey syllabus.
